JAPAN
After dreaming of Japan for a long time, today we have returned to this fascinating land, rich in sounds and colours so different from our own.
A year ago, we had left everything behind to live a new experience in the Japanese countryside, which deeply marked us.
Upon returning to Italy, nostalgia stayed with us for a long time, keeping alive some of the habits and flavours of that life, such as Hamana-san’s rice.
Now, one year later, we are travelling again: excited at the thought of seeing our friends again and resuming the work we left unfinished.
Immersed in the natural environment, the rhythms of the landscape, and everyday life in Boso/Chiba, this solo exhibition was created in an old house that still preserves traces of time. A place that deeply influenced the creative process, where everyday life and artistic practice became intertwined, forming part of a single experience.
刻層 / STRATA
Kanda & Oliveira is pleased to present “刻層 / STRATA” , a solo exhibition by Marta Palmieri, from Wednesday, August 19 to Sunday, September 13.
This exhibition was conceived following an encounter with Marta Palmieri’s work in the summer of 2025 during the OPPES artist-in-residence program in Isumi, Chiba Prefecture. Spearheaded by artist Kazunori Hamana, OPPES serves as a platform for creation and circularity—breathing new life into abandoned homes and land—attracting creators from across the globe. The name OPPES originates from a southern Chiba dialect verb meaning "to push."
